Obverse

The obverse, or front, of the 1 oz Texas Mint gold bar features two images that are immediately recognizable as Texan. The first of these images is an engraved image of the inside of the Texas capitol’s rotunda. This rotunda, which is actually taller than the one in Washington, D.C., sports the iconic Lone Star of Texas at its center.

The second image is a dark silhouette of the State of Texas. No other landmass looks exactly like the Lone Star State, and its presence immediately identifies where this bar is produced.

Finally, the bar’s purity mark and serial number round out its obverse design.

Reverse

The reverse of the bar bears a much simpler design. It is the same black silhouette of Texas, but much smaller. The figure is repeated across the bar to become a field of them.

The only other element on the reverse is an engraving of the mint’s name.

1 oz Texas Mint Gold Bar (New) Pricing and Premiums

The 1 oz Texas Mint gold bar is currently trading at <insert pricing widget> per bar. In other words, it is priced at <insert percentage> above the spot price for an ounce of gold.

There are very few bars of the same size and purity that are less expensive than this one. The ones that are - barring temporary sales - are only saving you a dollar or two, which is virtually nothing compared to the overall price of the bar.

Overall, you are not going to be able to find a higher quality bar for much less than this one.

Where to Buy 1 oz Texas Mint Gold Bar (New)

The Texas Mint does not have the same degree of visibility in the precious metals market that the Valcambis and PAMP Suisses of the world do. So, even though the 1 oz bar is widely distributed, it may be slightly harder to find than bars from the topmost producers. Thankfully, we know of four excellent precious metals dealers that are happy to provide you with access to this bar:

  • JMBullion.com - You can’t go wrong with JM Bullion. This provider has been offering products since 2011 and has completed millions of deals. Furthermore, there are positive reviews, both on Google and the site itself, that number in the hundreds of thousands.
  • ProvidentMetals.com - Provident Metals has an excellent reputation with an A + BBB rating and 90% customer satisfaction on Trustpilot, reflecting a strong commitment to service. With over 13 years of experience, Provident Metals combines competitive pricing, excellent customer service, and a user-friendly platform, making it an attractive choice for both novice and experienced gold bar investors..
  • Silver.com - Silver.com offers industry-leading prices on silver and gold products, often beating competitors.. Despite its name, you can find plenty of gold to buy and trade, including the new PAMP Suisse bars. Over 90% of items ship the same or next business day, ensuring quick delivery.
  • BGASC.com - Buy Gold and Silver Coins, better known as BGASC.com, is a lesser-known precious metals dealer that deserves to be, well, more known. Obviously, the site focuses on the coins, but it doesn’t fall short on its bar offerings, either. Best of all, it can ship your package to you fast - usually in 1 business day.

Compare prices on other 1 oz gold bars

As we mentioned, the 1 oz Texas Mint bar hovers toward the lower end of the spectrum in terms of pricing for 1 oz gold bars.

However, it is not the only member of that price point. There are several other fine gold bars that you can consider if you would like to keep your options open. Some of them include:

  • 1 oz Rand Refinery Gold Bar (New w/Black Assay)
  • 1 oz (RCM) Royal Canadian Mint Gold Bar (New w/Assay)
  • 1 oz Perth Mint Gold Bar (New w/Assay)

All three of these options are fine pieces of gold to add to your collection. In particular, both the Royal Canadian and the Perth Mint bars are products of sovereign mints, so you can rest assured about the quality and purity that you’ll receive with those.

Investor Considerations and Appeal

If it wasn’t clear from the descriptions above, this gold bar is a bit of a novelty piece. If a gold bar could chew tobacco and spit, the 1 oz Texas Mint gold bar would be the one to do it.

So, its immediate appeal is to beginning investors and casual people who want to pick up some gold. Of course, the bar also appeals to Texans, who are often as proud or prouder of being a Texan as they are of being an American.

Seasoned investors may be a bit more hesitant to buy this bar because bars from better-known refiners are a bit more liquid. In other words, they may feel that a Valcambi or PAMP Suisse bar might be easier to trade sometime down the line.

Texas Mint Details

The Texas Mint has been making its products for Texans and others since 2011. It began as a subsidiary of Texas Precious Metals, but spun off as its own thing in 2017.

However, the two companies remain close to each other physically. Both maintain their physical facilities in Shiner, Texas. Incidentally, Shiner is also the namesake of the unofficial beer of Texas, Shiner Bock. So, you can buy some gold, then go for a frosty beverage in a single day.
