Gold Price Israel

Israel is officially known as the State of Israel. The country is located on the Southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea and also borders the Red Sea. The city of Tel Aviv is the nation’s economic and technology center, although the country’s capital is Jerusalem. Israel’s government is a unitary parliamentary republic, and the nation declared its independence in 1948.

The Israeli New Shekel is the official currency of the nation. The currency is also used as good, legal tender in the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The new shekel was introduced in 1986, when it replaced the hyperinflated previous currency. Like many other global currencies, the shekel can be subdivided into 10 smaller units of currency called agora.

The Israeli Shekel is issued and controlled by the Israeli central bank, the Bank of Israel. The central bank was established in 1954, and in addition to managing the nation’s currency, it is also tasked with maintaining price stability and inflation targets and managing foreign exchange reserves.

If you are looking to buy gold in Israel, or simply want to see current prices, you will likely see spot gold quoted in the local currency. In addition, quotes in other key global currencies such as U.S. Dollars, Great British Pounds, Japanese Yen or euros may also be available. Gold is typically quoted by the ounce, gram or kilo.

The Israel Coins & Medals Corp, otherwise referred to as The Holy Land Mint, produces a wide selection of bullion products. In addition to bullion, the mint also produces a variety of coins, medals and banknotes.

A fine example of the quality and craftsmanship produced by the mint is the 1 gram Pure Gold Bar In Assay. This 999.9 percent fine gold bar features a beautiful and iconic design. In Hebrew, Jerusalem means “City of peace.” The dove has long been a symbol of peace, dating back to its roots from the story of Noah’s Ark. The bar depicts the flying dove, with city views in the background and “Jerusalem” inscribed near the top edge. The bar’s reverse features The Holy Land Mint Logo, as well as the bar’s weight, purity and serial number.

This is one of the finer gold bars available on the market today, and if you are looking to buy something local to Israel, this bar can make a great choice. This type of gold bar with the dove design is available in numerous weights including 1 gram, 2.5 gram, 5 gram, 10 gram, ½ ounce, 1 ounce and 1 kilo.

If you are looking to get as many total ounces of gold bullion as possible, you may want to consider looking at larger bars. The production costs for a 1 gram bar are very similar to that of a 10 gram bar or even 1 ounce bar (not including the gold content of course). Larger bars may potentially offer a per-ounce cost savings in the form of lower overall premiums.
