Obverse

The obverse, or front, of this bar is both simple and expressive. The dominant feature of this side is the Perth Mint logo. The iconic design features a right-facing swan enclosed in a ring with the mint’s name.

The only other elements on the obverse are three lines containing the bar’s purity marks. The three rows indicate the bar’s purity as 99.99%, “Pure Gold,” and “10 ounce.”

Reverse

The reverse, or back, of the 10 oz Perth Mint bar features a repeating pattern. The mint has engraved equal-sized silhouettes of a kangaroo, an unmistakable reference to Australia.

10 oz Perth Mint Gold Bar (New w/ Assay) Pricing and Premiums

The 10 oz Perth Mint bar derives its price as a combination of the spot price for an ounce of gold and the premium charged by the dealer for making the deal happen. In terms of other 10 oz bars, the Perth Mint bar is priced roughly in the middle of the pack.

However, there is only a few hundred dollars of difference between the highest and lowest-priced bars in the market. As the cost for a 10 oz bar ranges into the tens of thousands, the difference is negligible as a percentage of the price.

So, since price is not a determining factor in your decision, you should consider the Perth Mint bar as an option due to its unassailable pedigree.

However, if you would like to explore some other options, there are some excellent choices out there. Some 10 oz gold bars of similar purity to the Perth Mint bar include:

  • 10 oz Johnson Matthey Gold Bar
  • 10 oz Valcambi Gold Bar (New w/Assay)
  • 10 oz PAMP Suisse Fortuna Veriscan Gold Bar (New w/Assay)

Where to Buy 10 oz Perth Mint Gold Bar (New w/ Assay)

The Perth Mint widely distributes all of its products, including its 10 oz bar. You can find this bar on sale through many online and retail precious metals dealers around the world. However, not all dealers offer the same level of service, convenience, and security. So, here are some of the best options for moving forward with the purchase of this bar:

  • JMBullion.com - JM Bullion is the cream of the crop. It has sold billions of dollars of gold, silver, and other precious metals. There are nearly 400k positive reviews or testimonials on the site from its loyal customers.
  • ProvidentMetals.com - Provident Metals sees precious metals as a key to a brighter future. It has completed millions of precious metals orders and has a stellar 4.9-star rating from Google reviews.
  • BGASC.com - BGASC is an acronym for “Buy Gold and Silver Coins.” Despite the name, BGASC is also a top dealer for 1 oz gold bars. It maintains an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and has hundreds of four- and five-star reviews from Google users.
  • Silver.com - Silver.com is an excellent and well-respected online bullion dealer. Despite its name, you will find a wide selection of gold bars on the site. Any orders over $199 qualify for free shipping, and Silver.com insures all of its shipments until you verify that you’ve received them.

Investor Considerations and Appeal

A gold bar of 10 ounces or more appeals to a subset of investors. The cost of the bar is necessarily prohibitive to a large swath of investors, who have neither the funds nor the experience to move forward with an investment topping $20,000.

That said, the 10 oz Perth Mint bar is an excellent investment because it allows investors to bolster their gold stores with a product that is rock solid in its authenticity and purity. Furthermore, a Perth Mint product might be slightly more liquid than other bars due to its recognizability among investors in the know. So, if you decide to sell this bar, you might have an easier time of things than with other mints’ bars.

This bar also appeals because of its intrinsic cost savings. Although it is an expensive piece on an absolute basis, it is a far more cost-effective way to buy gold than to buy it in smaller chunks. Buying 10 1 oz bars is going to be more expensive than buying a 10 oz bar.

It is also cheaper to buy the 10 oz Perth Mint gold bar - ounce for ounce - than it is to buy gold coins.

Perth Mint Details

The Perth Mint is one of the oldest continually operating mints in the world. It is, in fact, a holdover from British colonial days in Australia.

The Mint, which opened its doors in 1899, is the last of three sovereign branches that functioned as arms of the British Royal Mint. It now functions as the bullion product producer for the Australian government and largely supplies the Royal Australian Mint with the raw materials to make Australian coinage.
